*Full Scramble Enabled* To: Justinian Salazar, SRID From: Agent 397 Date: 2002/08/17 *Report Begins* Okay, gents. GenCon was a massive drain on me, in time, money, and sheer stamina. Plus I started a new job that Wednesday, and I'm kinda bushed and busy from that. On the up side, I've done a bit of work on the model as well. No, not too much, but I've tried. I've been asked to do an article on this project, and I shall and I shall post a link to it when it's done, but until then . . . I'm kinda tired. Front View Until next time, my Speat eating Wierd Yet Tasty friends! ------
*Full Scramble Enabled* Anyway, I, with the help of Jim, the owner of the arcade, have completed most of both legs. We may be omitting some detail, but . . . The hip assembly is also mostly done, and the basecoat on the legs is almost complete. Pictures forthcoming. Pod Corps Members and anyone who really follows any of this, if you're at GenCon, I can arrange a showing of it at the arcade which is its home. Half hour away from the convention center. E-mail me or find me at the Con. Toodles. ------
*Full Scramble Enabled* Oh, you noticed. Well, I've been on vacation, unmotivated, and prepping for GenCon. Not to mention working on my personal life. ::Purrs like a kitten:: Maybe next week. Maybe next Thursday. Now, I sleep. I'm waaaaaaay too tired for words. ------
*Full Scramble Enabled* I'm also currently trying to make the buisness run more smoothly, which takes up a bit of time, to say the least. In any case, work will progress, just not today. ;p ------
*Full Scramble Enabled* I'll get back to you when I get back to work. ------
*Full Scramble Enabled* Wisconsin. If you don't like the weather . . . wait fifteen minutes. In other news, I should be able to blitz thrhough the other leg once I get the will to do so. Then it's a matter of doing the hips, and I'll be about half done. Great. I just depressed myself. Then I get to paint it. Oi. Ah, well, labor of love. :) And I'd like to take this moment to say that I want Bandai, or whoever got the rights to the action figures, should start making them immediately and start sending them all to me. I mean . . . umm . . . I just want my Heavy Gears! I'm gonna go be a rabid fanboy for a while now. Carry on. ------
*Full Scramble Enabled* Many thanks to DP9 and the HG Confluence for linking me, and the rest of you, feel free, just drop me a line. Matter of fact, do so anyway! I like hearing that people care. :) So, I managed to get Jimmy to run home and grab the camera, so I've got me some new pictures! Yay! Now, to annoy people, here comes the crap first. :) Okay, the original concept which started this awful fiasco (okay, so it's more fun than I've had in weeks. ;p ) was this paper model of a Baneblade for Warhammer 40k. I'm not dropping $200 on a tank! Now $500 on that new Warhound . . . Sorry. Either that or a sidearm. Probably a safer bet with the model. :) And here's another angle. Now, some mini pictures! An Iggy para! People still compliment me on the pattern breaker. I dunno why . . . Anyway, Marc, feel free to post that on the DP9 mini page. :) Same goes for the Type 6-16 Frame miniature I did. It's one of two color schemes I did. The other was all bright block colors. That was a joke regarding losing a bet with the CO right before a mission . . . ;) This is the general color scheme I want to do on the cardboard mockup. Comments? Ideas? The details aren't done. So any detail ideas. Okay, now we get down to the frame! Here's the new front view, I'm aware the legs are a bit too high . . . I'll live, I guess. I was thinking of finishing the blocking out of the legs and arms, then possibly re-building the torso. I'm not sure if it's to scale . . . Coments? Side view. I reinforced the torso so it can support the head without too much work. Well, duh, it had to be done, but I needed filler. :) The leg. The joints will have cloth under them (demnim, actually) and the details, including the sensor pod on the knee, are not yet in place. And here we have the dog with the frame. Yup. You all love the dog. And here comes the crowning moment . . . The drink of choice of the CEF! Okay, now that that's done . . . Here's the puppy, sleeping, looking at me, and, getting his belly scratched by yours truely. And it's actually not -my- dog, it's Jen's. She has two cats. I'll get pictures of them -if- I get the chance. Warmachines and household pets. Demographic appeal, my friends. For the Pod! ------
*Full Scramble Enabled* In other news, a friend of mine needs a new job and is going to be putting a few hundred miles in a car with no AC on thursday. I worry about her, and while it doesn't hurt the project much (it may help, I use it to pass the time so I don't think about it) it does distract me, so that when she's around, I very rarely work on the Frame. For the Pod! ------
*Full Scramble Enabled* They've completed what appears to be the lower leg and foot on the right side. The hoverskirt, if indeed it contains that style of SMS, has not been installed yet, probably it is to remain in safety until the construction and painting is complete. A recent skirmish between the Liberati and the "Type 6-16" that I was fortunate enough to witness worries me. The "Frame" as it is called, mounts a laser cannon which appears to be more powerful than that carried by the Snakeeye. The targeting and tracking routines are no better than the Jäger, barring the difference in the operational range of the weapons. However, acqusition time is greatly reduced, as it was scoring direct hits on the Liberati vehicles with frightening rapidity. This might be attributable to the GREL pilot the machine most likely carried, but I've seen few GREL's near the prototype. Perhaps they are using human troopers for the testing, assuming that GREL's would perform greater anyway? What frightens me is the four hardpoint mounts on the body and the one on the engine assembly appear to all be able to mount weapons, leaving both hands free. This means the "Frame" could, concievably, without dropping any of its allocated weapons, pick up discarded Gear weapons for its own use. Given the danger this vehicle appears to present, I request permission to attempt to destroy or commandeer the vehicle upon its completion. For the Republic ------
*Full Scramble Enabled* I have discovered that the prototype which I have been monitoring was not the only one present on Caprice. This is what I could smuggle out on such short notice.
I deemed this important enough to warrant a transmission at the earliest possible opportunity. Due to the proximity of listening devices, I shall have to make a detailed report on the prototype in question at a later date. ------
*Full Scramble Enabled* I have managed to smuggle out images of the vehicle. I wasn't able to find a way to pass a trideo recorder through security. I have, however, attached a status report circulating the premesis. There are attached photos. I'm afraid I have little else to report, save the SMS appears to be an odd hover system, much akin to the Chasseur. May I suggest stepping up deployment of Water Vipers and Water Dragons? * Plain text attachment * 2048 bit decryption key verifed * Good CRC "Gentlemen, It's a pleasure to see so many of the NEC's finest here to greet me! I have had the pleasure of meeting most of you, and look forward to getting to know the rest of you as well. I don't feel formalities will help us any, so you can all call me Mike. I've been in charge of this project since the beginning, and let me tell you, it's no picnic. But, I didn't pull you away from precious sack time to rant. No, I shall make this progress report brief. The cockpit is complete, barring some detailing and final work. The engine compartment and backpack assembly is currently still being designed, both for Octopus compatability and because the Terranovan V-Engine is more complicated than we first thought. See reference photos one and two. The second one has a picture of my friend's three and a half pound dog. Digitaly edited for size or not? Well, let's hear it out in the mess hall. Currently, the main structural work of the legs is complete, as is the general footprint. See photo three. The toes are complete, and are being prepped for attachment as we speak. The head is also completed, and the sensors power up. See the final two pictures. Well, I shan't keep you any longer. Let me say simply, I'm proud of you. May you and the type 6-16 make the NEC proud. A Party member named Mike" *End plain text * Begin data *Good CRC Cockpit *End data I will look into this "Party" and Type 6-16 for you. For the Republic. ------
*Full Scramble Enabled* In response to the request by Territorial Arms you recieved, I have penetrated Gammorah and discovered a hanger in use, not only to service the new HT-72's, but also to a new Gear-like vehicle. Currently, I've only seen one prototype, which appears to be completely torn down for the training of CEF technitions. I will attempt to bring a trideo recorder on-site to send back doccumentation, but until then, I can only say the cockpit assembly and the sensor head appear to be complete, as does the rough frame of the legs. I fear I will not be able to record the workings before the armor is in place. The soldiers in the hanger appear to belong to a unit I have never heard of, the 22nd battle group. I shall look into this, and the man I believe to be in command, Senior Lieutenant Hakan Hoffenburger. Any forthcoming information shall immediately be sent to you for analysis. Today the man who appears to be the head technition on the project, perhaps even a Terran engineer, was yelling at a subordinate about removing a support cable to work on the neighboring vehicle. The resulting damage took the rest of his shift to repair. I am also hearing rumors of Black Talons. I must say I am disappointed, as the Legion Noire would have traveled faster than the rumors. But then, that's what happens when you outsource. For the Republic. ------
The Heavy Gear Confluence linked me. Geez, I'm so pleased. I really liked that little Ferret they did, too. :) Hey, if you guys link to me, drop me an e-mail, okie?
