Requiem

No finer woman had
O'er the earth ever roamed,
But your heartbeat
A slow whisper became.

Even one tear is a thousand more
Than I had ever hoped for you,
But beneath a funeral drape
I lay my broken hope.

Tears cloaked in shadows
Shall on thee fall,
For deep is my sorrow,
For deep is my sorrow.

Discussion:    This poem is basically, as the title indicates, a requiem. It could almost be a eulogy as it very quickly covers the past, present, and future one each in the three stanzas.
