Suicide Note

you win

Discussion:    Simple, basic, and to the point. If this were actually written on paper, it would be just those two words, handwritten in black ink, in the middle of a canary yellow legal pad page. This is by far the shortest poem (if it can even be called that) I have written, yet I think it conveys a lot. It could even be my suicide note. Weary from the day-to-day battles against "you" (which could either be singular or plural), the author finally decides to end it all. So exhausted is he from the constant struggles that he can't even put forth the effort to capitalize or punctuate. He's a beaten and broken man. What are these struggles? They are those that I endure--religion, trying to explain my unconventional views, defending my actions, and so on. If this poem were ever turned into a song, I see it as being somewhat similar to Pink Floyd's One of These Days or Careful With That Axe, Eugene but with violins and massive orchestrations. I see it as being a slow, depressing, 15-minute song with incredibly minimal lyrics (indeed only two words). Really, not much more needs to be said upon taking my own life. ...But I hate to lose, so I don't think I'll be needing this (I hope).
